AIC's goal is to help Indigenous entrepreneurs find sources of financing for their business projects.
Aboriginal Impact Capital (AIC) is a joint-effort of four participating Aboriginal Financial Institutions (AFIs) located in southern Ontario.
AFIs are Indigenous financing organizations that offer access to loans, funding and business services in support of Indigenous business growth.
AIC's primary function is administration of the Aboriginal Business Financing Program (ABFP), a non-repayable program that supplements client equity and commercial financing, including loans secured from AIC's participating AFIs.
AIC funding is contingent on consultations and approval from, your AFI.
Aboriginal Financial Institutions (AFIs) are the key source of loans and other financing in support of Indigenous business growth.
Funding for capital costs (i.e equipment) and working capital needs (i.e. startup operating costs), is sourced primarily from loans and other other commercial financing that supplement a client cash equity and other funding.
AIC recommends every client first establish a relationship with their local Aboriginal Financial Institution (AFI).
AFIs offer business loans and other programs, plus, they can make recommendations on AIC (ABFP program) non-repayable contributions towards a portion of eligible capital and non-capital cost, when/if available.
By understanding your business, your local AFI will be positioned to help you grow your business, either now and/or in the future.
Even if you don't access AFI financing now, AIC needs the concurrence or recommendation of your AFI to consider a non-repayable contribution to your project and business.
AFIs may also consider recommending smaller (non-capital) projects for planning activities, management support and, most importantly, marketing/channel development.
If you are unsure which AFI to contact, we can help.

With the help of the four (4) participating AFIs, AIC focuses on delivery of the Aboriginal Business Financing Program (ABFP) in support of Indigenous business growth in southern Ontario.
Formerly known as ABC (Aboriginal Business Canada), ABFP enhances access to AFI financing and ultimately helps reduce risks and costs. AFIs make recommendations on, and are consulting with regards to, ABFP contributions.
AIC also helps entrepreneurs and organizations path-find to potential alternate financing or funding sources.
If your project is not eligible, or if program funding is exhausted, AIC will attempt to path find for alternative/additional financing sources.
ABFP Program Awaiting Renewal
AIC is allocated ABFP funding for each fiscal year (April 1 to following March 31) with funds typically in place sometime in July.
Demand for AIC's ABFP funding will normally exceed supply so unfortunately not all projects can be supported and/or the AFIs must carefully allocate funding to each project.
Although AIC's ABFP funding is exhausted as of March 31, 2023, AIC and its participating AFIs are anticipating renewal by July 2023.
We continue to identify new projects with anticipation of additional future funding and programs.
